After the assassination of Samuel Paty, a year ago, the college of Bois-d’Aulne in Conflans-Sainte-Honorine made community. Students, teachers, parents … all went through this tragedy together. A year later, the parents’ federations expressed their dissatisfaction and annoyance with the organization of tribute ceremonies within the establishment. “We are looking for a unity that seems to us to be essential and on does not understand why, when everyone asks for it within the college, we cannot be together“, notes Corinne Grootaert, representative of the Fpublication of parents’ councils (FCPE) in this establishment of 750 students.
Two ceremonies are planned. The first, Friday, October 15, with some of the students and teachers only. The other, more official, on Saturday October 16, one year to the day after the assassination of Samuel Paty, with 200 parents and students maximum and the Minister of National Education Jean-Michel Blanquer. Corinne Grootaert regrets that all parents cannot attend these moments. “Homage is also a symbol for us, she explains. And then it’s important to be there because we all lived it together last year. “
“Today we have to have a period of mourning and reconstruction together, that’s really the word that must be kept. We have the impression of being sidelined by the institution, and we don’t understand why. “Corinne Grootaert, representative of the FCPE at the Collège du Bois-d’Aulne
“Homage is necessary to be together, to try to move forward together. There will always be a before and an after, no one will say the other way around“, she adds.
The college’s FCPE section also sent a letter to the Department of Departmental Services for National Education (DSDEN) to denounce the process and the organization. “It is unheard of and unacceptable that you do not let Bois-d’Aulne organize its tribute as everyone wishes (parents, teachers and children)“, writes the association.
The other parents’ organization, the Federation of Parents of Public Education Students (Peep), denounces in an open letter a “extremely complicated dialogue “, a “great dismay “. The association specifies that without his insistence, “no time for internal recollection at the establishment would have been organized“.”It doesn’t have to be just an official ceremony, says Cécile Ribet-Retel, representative of the Peep. We need to have times of communion, of collective recollection. “
“We owe Monsieur Paty’s memory more than a plaque and flowers.”Cécile Ribet-Retel, representative of the Peep at the Collège du Bois-d’Aulne
On the side of the rectorate, we ensure to do the maximum taking into account the space available in the college and safety rules. The sound of the tribute will also be broadcast on the forecourt of the establishment.
