Alpine A110 Tour de Corse 75, all cars sold

NEW – The Dieppe brand revisits its history with a numbered edition of 150 units evoking the A110 berlinetta which came second in the 1975 Tour de Corse.

It didn’t drag. On sale since 9 a.m. this morning, Friday June 17, the 150 copies of the limited edition of the new Alpine are already sold out. A success that should lead Alpine to replicate the experience. Proof that the brand should not hesitate to rely on the richness of its past. Like the practices of Ferrari and Porsche, which do not hesitate to summon their history with special and limited series designed as true collectors’ items, the Renault group’s sports car brand has decided to revive its heyday. This is how the Dieppe manufacturer launched an A110 which recalls, in its color and decoration, Jean-Pierre Nicolas’ berlinetta entered in the 1975 Tour de Corse. The only survivor of an armada of four Alpines, including two A310s, Nicolas had finished second place in the 1975 Tour de Corse after a Homeric battle of tenths of a second against the Lancia Stratos of Bernard Darniche.

Alpine

Sold in only 150 units, the new Alpine A110 Tour de Corse 75 borrows exactly the decoration of the 1975 car, yellow and white with black bonnet and roof and white rims. The basis is the latest “S” evolution of the berlinetta. Its 1.8 liter 4-cylinder has a power of 300 horsepower. The equipment includes orange Brembo brake callipers and Sabelt racing bucket seats embroidered with the name of the Tour de Corse 75. A plate numbered from 1 to 150 on the central tunnel completes the equipment.

Invoiced at 80,000 euros and already acting as a collector’s item, this special Tour de Corse 75 series did not remain available for long on the manufacturer’s application.

Alpine A110 S, an endangered species

TEST – The qualities of the French berlinetta are sublimated at the wheel of the latest thermal engine version in the history of the Dieppe brand.

In its orange livery invoiced at 1,850 euros and with its coordinated brake calipers, its black roof and its semi-slick Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires specially developed for it (+ 740 €), the Alpine A110 S berlinetta does not fit in the lace. Aerodynamic lip highlighting the front bumper, streamlined underbody and carbon fiber spoiler at the rear combined in an aerodynamic package (+ €5,400), everything is there to make you want to put on the helmet and line up for the first race come. The very enveloping one-piece Sparco bucket seats (+ €720) and the synthetic microfiber upholstery imitating suede will encourage you even more.

Alpine

This equipment is accompanied by a small mechanical evolution. It’s not much, but the impact is psychological. The 4-cylinder 1.8 liter gains 8 horsepower to reach the fateful milestone of 300 horsepower. As for the 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox, its gears have been reinforced to accept 20 Nm more (340 Nm)…

The Gendarmerie will drive a Peugeot 3008 Hybrid

NEWS – The Sochaux manufacturer will deliver 395 units of its 225 hp plug-in hybrid SUV 3008 to the National Gendarmerie.

The Ministry of the Interior continues to renew the fleet of police forces and the National Gendarmerie. After having equipped the Police and the Gendarmerie with Peugeot 5008 and placed an order for Alpine A110 berlinettas for the rapid intervention brigades, the public authorities will supply 395 copies of the Peugeot3008 to the Gendarmerie. Specific to this fleet, it is exclusively made up of the entry-level plug-in hybrid model delivering 225 hp. This engine combines the 180 hp 1.6-litre 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine with a 110 hp electric machine installed at the front and powered by a 13.2 kWh battery. Full battery, this SUV is able to travel up to 56 km in the silence of its electric propulsion.

Peugeot

The choice of the plug-in hybrid model does not fail to challenge. Admittedly, through this order, the State certainly seeks to set an example, to participate in the greening of its fleets and in the ecological transition. In view of the missions and uses of the Gendarmerie, it is very likely that the consumption approved at 1.2 l/100 km will be difficult to reproduce in real life and the 3008 may often go to the pump. To reduce the fuel bill, the accumulators of the 3008 Hybrid will need to be regularly recharged. Far from being obvious when we know that the infrastructures on the public space are largely deficient.

Before their delivery to the National Gendarmerie, the 3008 Hybrid 225 benefited from a specific layout at the bodybuilder EGP of Hordain.

Alpine delivers the first berlinettes to the Gendarmerie

NEWS – During a reception at Place Beauvau, the Rapid Intervention Brigade received the first copies of the 26 A110 berlinettes ordered.

When traveling during the holiday season, some motorists may come across berlinettes of a new kind. The first copies of the 26 Alpine A110 ordered by the Ministry of the Interior for the rapid intervention brigade (BRI), as part of a call for tenders, were delivered during a reception at Place Beauvau, in the presence of by Gérald Darmanin, Minister of the Interior, Laurent Rossi, Managing Director of Alpine, and François Loor, Managing Director of Durisotti. This Pas-de-Calais company was responsible for preparing and fitting out French sports cars.

Ministry of the Interior

To meet the missions of the BRI, mainly interventions on the motorway, the berlinettes benefit from reflective marking, serigraphy, a rotating beacon, an audible warning device, a variable message sign and a radio equipment.

Through this supply contract, Alpine and the National Gendarmerie continue a story that began in 1966 with the legendary A110. Between 1973 and 1987, the Dieppe brand which entered the fold of Renault had replaced the A110s with A310s. The Renault group can boast of a long history with the National Gendarmerie since between 1984 and 1987, 18 Turbo supported the missions of the gendarmes. Then, the R21 Turbo (1992 – 1995), the Mégane IDE (2001 – 2006) and the Mégane III RS (2011 – 2021) carried the colors of the Gendarmerie.

The 26 new berlinettes will be gradually delivered to the gendarmerie units during the year 2022. Two of them will be dedicated to rapid intervention training.

Alpine skiing: in Val d’Isère, the fervor of the first snow

Like an air of the world before in Val d’Isère (Savoie). Flags, fog horns, foreign accents… More than 4,000 spectators made the trip to the Savoy resort to attend the Critérium de la première neige, counting for the Alpine Skiing World Cup, Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 December .

“This is our pilgrimage at the start of the season”, rejoices Aline, 41, tricolor stamped on the cheeks. Last year, the test had to take place behind closed doors, Covid obliges. This time, we find the orchestra and the mulled wine. The smiles on the faces of the children… and that of their elders. Jacques, 83, has shining eyes: ” Hope it lasts “, launches the Mustache Savoyard, skis in hand.

“It reminds me of why I run errands, why I wake up early every day to weight training, why I work so hard. I think I forgot it last year ”, reassures the local of the stage, Victor Muffat-Jeandet, 11e of the giant on Saturday, but disqualified from the slalom on Sunday after having straddled a gate.

Ant work

Until the last moment, uncertainty reigned over the holding of the downstream events. Not because of the pandemic, but the weather conditions. Val d’Isère is customary: the events are regularly canceled due to a lack or excess of snow, or because of a too strong wind. This time, fifty centimeters of snow fell the day before the competition. Enough to paralyze several traffic axes in the region, and greatly modify the track, already considered one of the most demanding on the circuit.

The snow groomers were therefore activated during the night, followed by 70 “Straighteners”, ski instructors responsible for making the track passable. A painstaking job in the freezing night, until sunrise. Tens of thousands of liters of water have also been “Injected” to harden the ice of this sloping track by almost 40% on average. “It’s a difficult snow, confided Alexis Pinturault on Saturday. And there is bad light, so we are a little on eggshells. Conditions like that, we have very rarely. “

Christmas king of the track

The public has therefore finally found its heroes, who are scrapping on the mythical Face de Bellevarde slope, a descent that we fear as much as we admire it. One of them is particularly acclaimed on Sunday afternoon. And for good reason: at 24, Clément Noël has just flown over the slalom to win with 1 second and forty hundredths ahead of the Swede Kristoffer Jakobsen.

On arrival, the public chants the name of the native of the Vosges to the tune of Highway to Hell. He is jubilant. “I knew the route by heart, I did it 100 times in my head, I was very confident before leaving, he describes. Winning in Val d’Isère has a special flavor. I lived here for a few years, my family is there. “” He’s already a great champion, this kid!, greet the head of the team Fred Perrin. He must take advantage of what he has done, because it is huge. “

→ PORTRAIT. Alpine skiing: His Majesty Alexis Pinturault

The day before, the pillar Alexis Pinturault, 30, signed his first podium of the season. Third Frenchman in history to win the big crystal globe (general classification of the World Cup) last March, he finished second in the giant, behind the untouchable Switzerland Marco Odermatt, already winner three times since the end of October. But “Pintu” disappointed Sunday, failing to qualify for the second round of the slalom, after a loss of downforce at the end of the race. A failure came to end a mixed weekend.

Beijing and uncertainty

In two months, the French champion should be in the race for gold in Beijing, the only metal missing from his Olympic Games record. The official selection of the Blues should not be announced until the end of January.

If his colleague Mathieu Faivre, 8th of the giant, says he has not yet the head to China, the Olympic deadline is fast approaching. The Minister for Sports Roxana Maracineanu was also present in the Savoy resort this weekend to encourage the troops.

The weekend results are “Auspicious” for the rest, comments the national technical director of French skiing Fabien Saguez. But the rest is emerging under unprecedented conditions: “No one got to see the Chinese tracks, although we usually do a lot of prospecting trips. We therefore have a little trouble understanding them. “ At the edge of the track, Aline, the spectator, summarizes: “The Olympics, we expect them, but we hope that they will not be disturbed by diplomatic or health issues …”

Alpine A110, 300 hp under the hood

NEW – Around a revamped range, the famous French berlinetta offers 8 more hp and aerodynamic appendages.

The Alpine berlinetta has not said its last word. While the French manufacturer is working on “the after”, the switch to electric planned for 2025, it continues to maintain the desirability of its sports car. For the 2022 vintage, the A110 berlinetta sees its range completely revamped. Alongside the standard model delivering 252 horsepower, engineers have beefed up the “S” version. The most powerful version in the range now boasts 300 horsepower at 6,300 rpm, a gain of 8 hp, thanks to a new calibration of the 1.8 turbo 4-cylinder engine. The torque takes the opportunity to gain 20 Nm to 340 Nm, from 2,400 to 6,000 rpm. It is known by design that the Getrag 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission cannot handle higher torque.

The interior of the Alpine A110 GT. Alpine

The 300 horsepower version is available in two finishes: GT or S. As its label indicates, the first is “grand touring”, playing elegance with its specific rims and comfort leather seats with blue stitching. Its standard equipment also includes the Park Assist system coupled with the reversing camera.

Alpine

Based on 18-inch black rims, the A110 S version is the sportiest of the range. It receives a sports exhaust and a sports chassis through recalibrated springs and anti-roll bars, a specific gear geometry, coil springs 50% stiffer, recalibrated shock absorbers and a reduced ride height of 4 mm. By opting as an option for the aerodynamic kit increasing the downforce by 141 kilos and resting on a blade under the front bumper and a carbon rear spoiler, we have a berlinetta at unbridled top speed at 275 km / h, on the last report.

Alpine

Inside, Sabelt buckets draped in a mixed black leather-microfiber coating and orange stitching reinforce the sporty positioning of the “S”. As an option, this model can also receive a biton body, combining the black roof and the orange shell.

Finally, the 2022 vintage is accompanied by a new multimedia system with a 7-inch touch screen, compatible with Apple Carplay and AndroidAuto. It has voice control to control the iOS or Google assistant of the smartphone or launch the Google Online Search contextual address search. Standard on the S version but optional on the other models, the Alpine Telemetrics menu provides real-time access to technical data on turbo pressure, gearbox temperature, torque, power, angle of the steering wheel, and of the accelerometer. The integrated chronograph measures and records performance during track sessions, for example. For circuit excursions, it will be recommended to opt for the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 Connect semi-slick tires available only on the A110 S berlinetta. Alpine prices range from € 59,500 (252 hp) to € 71,500 for the S version of 300 hp.

The Gendarmerie will ride in Alpine

NEWS – The rapid intervention brigades will have to learn to pilot a propulsion system with the arrival of a fleet of A110 berlinettes, replacing the Mégane RS.

In a press release, the Home Office announced that it had just placed an order for 26 Alpine A110 Pure finish. Renault has, in fact, won a call for tenders for a period of four years in order to supply rapid intervention vehicles to the gendarmes belonging to the units of the rapid intervention brigades (BRI). The story is an eternal restart since the National Gendarmerie already drove an Alpine berlinette at the end of the sixties to replace the exhausted Matra Djet to monitor vehicle performance and intercept offending vehicles. The 26 AlpineA110s will gradually replace the RenaultMégane RS which are beginning to show the weight of the years and which were to be replaced by Cupra Leon. But, it seems that the outcry over the purchase of foreign models has prompted the state to review its copy.

Jean-Christophe MARMARA / JC MARMARA / LE FIGARO

Going from a traction to a propulsion will undoubtedly oblige the gendarmes to follow training and piloting lessons. A rear-wheel drive, which is more a rear mid-engine model, requires serious piloting skills to be carried out at high speed. Otherwise, it should come as no surprise that Alpine cars regularly pass through the bodywork box. This had already been the case with the Subaru Impreza, a number of vehicles of which were seriously damaged during their career. Undoubtedly each time an overestimation of his skills and an underestimation of the risks. Unless these crumpled sheets were the result of driving with inappropriate shoes? The BRI had yet called on their hierarchy to drive with pilot ballerinas!

The new Alpine A 110 powered by the 252 horsepower 1.8-liter turbo 4-cylinder will be produced in the Dieppe plant before being then shipped to Durissoti where the exterior decoration and equipment will be installed. radio and intervention. These vehicles will be dedicated to the interception on the highway of vehicles caught in violation of excessive speeding but also for road safety or judicial police missions, in the context of drug trafficking for example. Delivery of the first copies will begin in 2022.

Alpine A110 Légende GT, the limited edition berlinetta

NEW – The Dieppe brand continues to develop its special-edition versions with a new Legend GT powered by the 292 hp engine.

At Alpine, the electric is not yet for now and we maintain the attractiveness of the A110 berlinetta by a new version of the special collection Legend GT. Produced at only 300 units, the 2021 vintage is based on the most powerful version, the A110 S. The 1.8-liter turbo 4-cylinder thus provides the trifle of 292 horsepower and a torque of 320 Nm, constant of 2,000 to 6,400 rpm. This engine is still associated with the sports exhaust and the high performance braking system.

Alpine

Like the previous Legend version of 2020, the 2021 cuvée emphasizes refinement and comfort. Two models are available around distinct atmospheres: matt Mercury silver gray or Abyss Blue. The first is combined with Sabelt bucket seats in black leather with gray stitching. In the case of the blue tint, Alpine has chosen a clearly Grand Touring universe based on amber brown leather upholstery with brown stitching for the bucket seats and door inserts. The 18-inch diamond-coated rims are recognizable by their bright gold brake calipers.

The interior equipment is completed with carbon inserts with a weave of a copper thread on the center console, the visor of the dashboard and the air vents. Each copy has a numbered plate affixed to the central console.

As standard, the 2021 Légende GT also integrates the front and rear parking sensors, the reversing camera and the Focal audio system. These two special versions of the A110 S berlinetta are available to order at a price of 71,600 euros.

Alpine skiing, the coronation of Alexis Pinturault

Alexis Pinturault will remember the day of his thirtieth birthday all his life. This Saturday, March 20, the skier from Moûtiers won the Alpine Skiing World Cup. This is the first time since 1997 that a French has won the big crystal globe.

His victory in the giant slalom in Lenzerheide (Switzerland) allows Alexis Pinturault to beat Switzerland’s Marco Odermatt by 107 points. He can no longer be joined in the World Cup standings in the last event, Sunday’s slalom.

Second in the World Cup in 2019 and 2020, Pinturault became at 30 the fourth French skier to win the title after Jean-Claude Killy (1967 and 1968), Michèle Jacot (1970) and Luc Alphand, the last, in 1997 .

He benefited from the cancellation due to bad weather in the canton of Graubünden of several events scheduled in Lenzerheide, including the downhill and the Super-G, which could have benefited Odermatt and his top speed. But the Swiss could not do better than 11th on Saturday, 1 second 28 behind his French rival.

His victory also allows Pinturault to win the small globe of the Giant’s World Cup.

Alpine skiing: behind Tessa Worley, the French women lagging behind

Why has the French women’s team been transparent for years? “It’s the question that kills, I myself find myself null”, responds at the foot of the track of the parallel slalom event, this February 17, the giantist Coralie Frasse-Sombet, who points to the 27e place in the world ranking of the specialty. Seizing the question on the fly, a manager of the France team intervenes: “You don’t have to answer”, he said, more distraught than annoyed by a finding that has haunted the coaching staff for a long time.

In fact, behind the irremovable Tessa Worley who towers over her comrades head and shoulders, it is the white desert. All disciplines of alpine skiing are concerned, a sad finding that we find in the general classification of the World Cup, where there is only one tricolor in the fifty world premieres. When we dissect this classification by specialty, we see that business remains acceptable as a giant, land of historical excellence in French skiing. But they are very worrying in slalom and downhill, where the first Blue only points to 33e square.

Luc Alphand’s daughter skis in the Swedish selection

“For girls, we’ve been struggling for a few years, lamented before the Worlds the president of the French Ski Federation Michel Vion. So we are trying to rebuild with younger people and we are trying to give them experience ”. Certainly, but still it would be necessary to find reserve in the youth categories – in the European Cup or in the junior competitions – where the French shine especially by their absence.

The last to have floated in these waters is Estelle Alphand, daughter of the winner of the 1997 World Cup and current commentator of these Worlds for France Televisions. The problem is that she didn’t get along with the previous coaching team of the French women’s team. She therefore took advantage of her dual nationality acquired by her mother to go and engage under the flag of the… Swedish selection.

An executive of the France team preferring to remain anonymous points out the management to the hard way of the time. “French coaches must learn to manage emotions, periods of doubt, sometimes tears that are not found in boys, it’s the same in all sports, we don’t lead girls like boys and we have tended to forget it ”, he said. He salutes the tact of the new staff recruited in… Italy, where young women have been piling up victories for years.

→ READ. Tessa Worley launches the Bleues du ski on the right slope

“We are not going to win ten medals, we know that, but we are here to play our chances”, Alberto Senigagliesi, the transalpine director of the French women’s teams said diplomatically at the start of the championship. Apart from the bronze in the parallel slalom of Tessa Worley, the oracle is verified especially as the absence of Bleues at the level largely weighed in the decision not to line up of team of France in the Team Event of Wednesday. It would have been necessary to field two skiers (plus a replacement) that the blue selection did not have available.

Lack of emulation in training

“I would have been up for it, but the management made another decision”, specifies Coralie Frasse-Sombet, who continues: “I think that girls are not given enough financial support when they are at a good level without being extraordinary. In other countries, they are given a small salary, not in France, suddenly they get discouraged and give up ”. But according to her, ” these good skiers are essential for the emulation of the group, especially in training. Me for example, I am all alone against Tessa (Worley) who is a hundred kilometers ahead. It’s discouraging ! “.

Former coach of women’s speed teams, Laurent Chrétien, press chief of the French delegation, provides a more sociological explanation. “A highly competitive project requires the support and many sacrifices of parents, he observes, at the first injury – and there are many of them in skiing – they fear their daughters and advise them to go to school. We can understand them, but we lose too many young people around 16/17 years old. It’s up to us to retain them, but we haven’t found the recipe ”.
