“King of Horror” James Wan – famous for the franchises “Insidious” or “The Conjuring” – introduces the new movie “Malignant”.
On July 20, the publisher released the first trailer of Malignant (Vietnamese name: Evil embodiment). The video reveals the scene where the female lead Madison (played by Annabelle Wallis) becomes insane when repeatedly experiencing illusions about murders. Her condition worsened as the hallucinations gradually became reality.
The work marks the return of James Wan as a horror movie director since The Conjuring 2 (2016). In recent years, he has tried the superhero genre with Aquaman (2018) and focus on being a producer.
Through the first images, critics judge Malignant reminiscent of Wan’s filmmaking style Saw, combination of horror and sensational elements. In addition to the familiar scare scene, the Australian director gives the audience bloody violent scenes through murder cases with spiritual colors.
The script is a collaboration between James Wan and his fiancée Ingrid Bisu. The two got engaged in early 2019 after a few years of dating. They met on set The Nun in 2017, the horror work produced by James Wan.
James Wan was born in 1977, is one of the most successful Asian-American directors in Hollywood today.
