HCM City bought 300,000 additional test nCoV

Ho Chi Minh City will buy 200,000 additional Covid-19 PCR tests and 100,000 fast tests, ensuring sufficient testing capacity when needed.

Information was the director of the Department of Health Nguyen Tan Binh said at the meeting of the Steering Committee for epidemic prevention in Ho Chi Minh City, on the morning of May 10. The city health sector has stockpiled bio-products, test kits with 90,000 PCR tests and 30,000 rapid tests available.

According to Mr. Binh, the city currently has 24 testing facilities, ensuring a testing capacity of 15,000 samples in 24 hours, when needed, it can mobilize up to 30,000-40,000 forms.

Up to now, the total number of tested samples is 423,598. 22 medical centers and public hospitals organize 2-3 sampling teams in each unit, with a total of 250 teams. 400 students from medical universities were mobilized, set up sampling teams, serving community supervision and testing when an outbreak occurred.

Ho Chi Minh City is organizing tests for all medical staff and inpatients of major hospitals such as Oncology, Hematologic Blood Transfusion.

According to Mr. Binh, accumulated up to now, HCMC has recorded 267 cases of Covid-19. In which, 69 cases of infection in the community, 194 cases of entry, 4 cases of infection in the quarantine area of ​​Vietnam Airlines. Currently, 243 cases have been cured, 24 patients are being treated, and their health is stable.

Returning to the city after the holiday, 4,599 health workers made a medical report, of which 2,066 people from the risk point were sampled. Up to this morning, 1469 people have negative results, 597 people are waiting for the results.

21,383 people in the community, workers at the agencies and units participating in reporting. Of which 605 people coming from the epidemic locations were tested for addiction, recorded negative 352 people, 253 people waiting for the results.

According to Mr. Binh, Ho Chi Minh City has not had a community outbreak since the Tan Son Nhat outbreak in February 2021, but the risk of the epidemic being invaded and spread is very large.

Mr. Binh asked the isolators and treatment teams to prepare the scenario of epidemic spread in the community from low to high. Prepare plans to ensure capacity to cope with widespread epidemic situations. Implement a treatment plan for 50-100 Covid-19 patients, plan to treat 100-200 patients and more.

The health sector plans to set up an additional 5,000-bed field hospital to submit to the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, preparing for the situation of 30,000 cases.
