NEW – With the C5 X, the chevron firm is reinvesting the long-haul segment by shifting the lines.
The French manufacturer has given up on the large sedan. Stopped since mid-2017, the C5 will have no direct descendants. The herringbone firm, which had to rebuild itself after the independence of the DS label, has not given up on styling its range with a grand tourer. With a global outlook, this new model will aim to seduce both Europe and China, where it will be produced from the end of 2021. Called C5 X, Citroën’s next high-end is taking a gamble by associating several universes. From the recent C4, this new vehicle has retained an elevated architecture, halfway between the traditional sedan and the SUV. The driver’s eye point will be 3 to 4 cm higher than in a sedan. The proportions are unusual, however. At Citroën, we speak readily of Cross Tourer to define this model crossing the influences of the station wagon and the sedan.
